Mechanism of Action

Management of cough and cold
Licoriceextractwas reported as a potent expectorant and demulcent in inflammation of bronchiTubules. The glycyrrhetic acid interferes with mucopolysaccharidesynthesis as well as bronchial secretion, reduces its viscosity and thus facilitating its removal by coughing..

Anti-viral and Immune Support
Glycyrrhizin is an effective antiviral compound against HCV,HIV, CVB3, DHV, EV71, CVA16, HSV and H5N1 by weakeningvirus activity, such as inhibiting virus gene expression andreplication, reducing adhesion force and stress, and reducingHMGB1 binding to DNA. Glycyrrhizin also enhances host cellactivity, e.g., by blocking the degradation of IκB, activating Tlymphocyte proliferation and/or suppressing host cell apoptosis.

Improving Skin tone
Glabridin inhibits melanogenesis by tyrosinase activity of the cells and the anti-inflammatory was shown by its inhibition of superoxide anion productions and cyclooxygenase activities.
